Detailed Itinerary


DAY 1 - AM: Baltra / PM: Santa Cruz: Charles Darwin Station

You will arrive at Baltra Airport in the morning. After passing through immigration and baggage claim you will be met by your guide, who will transfer you to Itabaca canal, cross to the Island of Santa Cruz and travel to Puerto Ayora to leave you at your Hotel. Lunch.

In the afternoon, we will visit the Breeding Center "Fausto Llerena" - Charles Darwin Breeding Center, home to turtles ranging from 3-inches (new hatchlings) to 4-feet long. Here you will observe the various sub-species of turtles interacting with each other, and possibly with you. Many of the older turtles are accustomed to humans, and will stretch out their heads for a pet. The babies are only kept until they are about four years old, or large enough to survive in the wild. These conservation efforts continue to be extremely successful.

DAY 2 - Early in the morning departure to Isabela by speed boat, AM: Isabela Island: Visit to Wetlands, Flamingo Lake, Tortoise Breeding Center. PM: Visit to Tintoreras

We´ll visit the Wetlands which consist of lagoons, swamps and mangroves and are home to a variety of unique bird species such as common stilts, whimbrels, white-cheeked pintails and gallinules. The Wetlands can be visited on foot via a path that winds through the swamps

Then, we´ll visit the Flamingos Lake, where you can find various salt and brackish lagoons which house an impressive variety of coastal and sea birds. Here, visitors can also find the largest concentration of flamingos in Galapagos.

We continue to Tortoise Breeding Center. This center was created to protect animals in their first years of life from the threats of foreign species such as pigs and donkeys. Giant tortoise eggs are collected and brought to the center where they are hatched and kept for five years before being released to their natural environment.

In the afternoon, we´ll visit a small island known as Las Tintoreras, Here a colony of white tip sharks can often be seen resting in a lava canal. You can snorkel or swim in the unique habitat of these animals. On the nearby sandy beaches, sea lions play and relax in the sun. This is one of Isabela's most beautiful visitor sites.Activities: Walking

DAY 3 - AM:Isabela Island : Visit to Sierra Negra Volcano / PM: Concha de Perla

In the morning we´ll visit the Sierra Negra Volcano , whcich boasts the largest basaltic caldera in Galapagos at 9 x 10km. It is a large shield volcano , habitat for the Sierra Negra giant tortoise, that has a saddleback shell, On the way up to Sierra Negra , the site offers spectacular view of the lowlands and the opportunity to observe up to 7 species of finch and a rich display of tall trees and lush highland vegetation . The north side of the caldera provides evidence of its most recent volcanic activity in 2005.

In the afternoon, we´ll visit Concha de Perla, that can be reached via a wooden pathway. The bay’s calm, shallow, clear waters are ideal for observing the incredible array of marine life. Visitors can swim and snorkel alongside tropical fish, sea lions, penguins and turtles and it is also possible to observe up to 20 bird species.

DAY 4 - AM: Return from Isabela to Santa Cruz: Transfer to Baltra Airport to take flight to mainland

Early in the morning we depart from Isabela to Santa Cruz by speed boat.

You will be transferred to Baltra’s Airport in time to catch your flight back to the mainland.
