Playa Negra, MARCHENA ISLAND

Its name came from the black eroded basaltic sand which derived from the Galapagos basaltic shield of volcanoes.Playa Negra offers another excellent opportunity to snorkel or kayak, this time around a recently formed lava grotto where it’s possible to capture images of nosed dolphins playfully splashing about, marine iguanas diving for algae growing on the submerged lava beds and other cetaceans or feeding frenzies.
